Critique Aublysodon is based on teeth that some taxonomists regard as developmental variants of Tyrannosaurus rex rather than a distinct species. Aublysodontinae was defined by Holtz (2001) to include Aublysodon and Alectrosaurus, which might warrant a name if confirmed as monophyletic. As no evidence has yet to materialize to support that pairing, the taxon is considered inactive.
